Make your own stocks

Making your own stock is a great way to save money and add lots of flavor to many dishes. Here are some ways you can use a home made stock.
*You can freeze the stock in a ice cube tray then store in a zip lock bag. Then when you want to steam vegetables add the ice cube stock to your saute pan and let melt add vegetables and cover with lid. Heat on high until the liquid is gone and the vegetables are tender.
*Use the stock to make homemade gravy.
*Soups
*risotto and rice pilaf
*In almost any meet dish as a substitute for water
*Casserole dishes
*chili

You can also make vegetable stock with onions, celery, carrots, leeks, parsley and almost any other vegetables you have on hand. Boil in water for 45 minutes and add garlic, bay leaf, black pepper corns and thyme wrapped in cheesecloth and tide with butcher twine.
